Navigating a large and dynamic university campus can be challenging for new students, staff, and visitors alike. To improve the overall campus experience, Vancouver Island University (VIU) tasked Macon Fabrication with designing, crafting, and installing a custom metal signage wayfinding system consisting of 44 custom directional signs at its Nanaimo campus.
High-Precision Laser Cutting for Custom metal Signage
This project was more than just signage – it was about creating a clearer, more accessible environment that supports smooth movement and helps everyone find their way with ease. Our team took a full-service approach, handling every step of the process in-house to ensure the highest quality and precision.
Using our state-of-the-art laser cutting table, we precisely cut each sign from durable materials, ensuring crisp, clean edges that meet exact design specifications. Following cutting, the signs were carefully formed using our press brake, giving them the strength and shape needed to withstand outdoor conditions and frequent use.
Outdoor Wayfinding metal Signage with Industrial Coated Finish
To protect the signs and maintain their vibrant appearance over time, we applied an industrial-grade coating. This finish not only offers superior resistance to weather, fading, and wear but also gives the signs a professional, polished look that complements the campus aesthetic.
Strategically placed throughout the Nanaimo campus, these 44 signs play a vital role in enhancing navigation, making it easier for students, faculty, staff, and visitors to locate buildings, parking, amenities, and pathways. These custom directional signs reduces confusion, saves time, and contributes to a welcoming campus atmosphere.
